Tonight at the 32nd Annual Golden Raspberry Awards, for the first time in the history of the Razzies a single film went home with every single gold berry: Jack and Jill. With a rating of only three percent on Rotten Tomatoes and a trailer without a single laugh its sweep isn’t surprising, though it might be a little embarrassing for Adam Sandler who won Worst Actor and Worst Actress for his cross-dressing efforts.
What’s really disappointing about the sheer awfulness of Jack and Jill that the Razzies has highlighted is the fact that Adam Sandler has proved he’s capable of making genuinely entertaining movies. His emotions came through as he played a dad trying to do what’s best for his kids in Spanglish, his chemistry with Jack Nicholson was fantastic in Anger Management, and he even earned a Golden Globe nomination for Punch-Drunk Love. Unfortunately his next movie looks like he’s continuing on a Jack and Jill track instead of making smarter, funnier films.
Below is the detailed list of the Razzie winners that helped make this movie into the cinematic train wreck it was. Oscar winner Al Pacino’s Worst Supporting Actor win proves no one was safe from the mess of Jack and Jill.
