Madonna‘s continued attempts to remain hip just make her sound like your mother when she asks you the difference between privately messaging someone on Facebook versus writing on someone’s wall. Tragic. Outdated. Sad.
This weekend she introduced Avicii at the Miami music festival Ultra and used the opportunity to ask the crowd if they’ve seen molly. Considering that Ultra is known as a party destination for drugs like molly, the crowd loudly cheered at her drug reference. Every time someone under 25 react positively to something Madonna says, she loses a varicose vein. Conversely, every time someone under 25 rolls their eyes at something she says, she’s forced to get another bionic arm transplant. The aging process is just so cruel in America.
While the kids at Ultra were super impressed with Madonna’s hip drug reference, electronic music extraordinaire (so extraordinaire that he uses numbers in his name!) DeadMau5 slammed her via social media for her comment.
“Very classy there madonna. “HUR DUR HAS ANYONE SEEN MOLLY???” such a great message for the young music lovers at ultra,” he posted on Facebook early Monday morning. “quite the f’n philanthropist. but hey, at least yer HIP AND TRENDY! fucking cant smack my head hard enough right now.”
He goes on in a later post to discuss the negative effects of Madonna’s comment. Although electronic music’s commonly associated with club drugs like Molly, DeadMau5 has worked hard to erase that stereotype so that all electronic music fans feel comfortable at festivals like Ultra — and the media can feel comfortable reporting on it without giving it an underground rave vibe in their stories.
But Madonna doesn’t care about DeadMau5′s opinion and hasn’t even responded to his accusations of her being irresponsible. That’s probably because she’s too busy reading up on other hip things to say like “how about this formspring thing” and “that Pretty Little Liars’ season finale sure was suspenseful!”
As much as we all want her to go out on a good note, she’s determined to keep performing until her daughter Lourdes gets her legally confined to a nursing home.
