Isabelle (Clove) probably gives the best reaction to the “who would you want to play in a real-life Hunger Games?” question: Jack Quaid, just to see his reaction. Her imitation of him is pretty spot-on, too. Speaking of…
Jack (Marvel) admits that he’d never read the books before auditioning, so it’s impressive that he was able to sell the producers on playing one of the hard-training Career tributes.
Ironically, Liam (Gale) has one of the movie’s smaller roles; I’d say Foxface does more than Gale in the first movie. However, he does have the benefit of reading Catching Fire and Mockingjay to learn how Gale’s importance to the plot grows.
OK, we saved the best for last. This is the second big career high for Jennifer (Katniss), after she was nominated for Best Actress for Winter’s Bone at the 2011 Oscars. And even though it’s been only about a year, she seems just as humble and excited — or, in her words, “shaking like a chihuahua” — as ever. I love this interview she does with E!, not just because it’s a couple minutes long and not a soundbite like some of the other videos.
She just comes off as totally normal: Leveling with the interviewers about obsessing over her TV appearances on DVR after the fact, and her utter consternation about the rumor that she’s starting up training for Catching Fire in June. She’s adorable!
