In the latest issue of W Magazine, Jessica Biel talks about all the boring things actresses usually talk about in interviews: being a tomboy, her rebellious teen phase, and her love of healthy physical activity. But one thing I found kind of amusing was that when asked about whether she’d had Barbies as a kid, she gave the following answer like it was in any way unique:
W: Did you have Barbies?
Jessica Biel: I did, but it was always, “Let’s play sex with Barbies!” My Barbies were usually naked. Once, I took their heads off, cut their hair, drew on their short, spiky hair with some markers, then stuck the heads on Christmas lights. Every year, we’d string our tree with those Barbie heads. It looked demonic. My parents were so cool—they saw it as a form of self-expression.
Guess what, Jessica? Everybody did this. I’m pretty sure there have been entire books written about what drives girls to torment their Barbies thusly.
Then again, her Barbie sex obsession seems somewhat ironic in light of her maybe- fake engagement to Justin Timberlake. Those Barbies got more action that she ever will, should she continue down her current path. Choose wisely, Jessica. Think of the Barbies.
