A Tennessee high school principal caused a whirlwind of awfulness this week when she told gay kids in an assembly on PDA that they were going to H-E-double hockey sticks. I’d call it a “controversy,” but that would imply that there are two sides to this issue.
According to several students, principal Dorothy Bond started out by discussing the (uncomfortable but reasonable) topic of PDA (“public displays of affection”) in school before taking a sharp right turn into Crazy Asshole Land:
“At first she was talking about PDA, and she turned around and she directly pointed to the gay people and said if you’re gay you’re going to hell, and if you’re pregnant, your life is over.”
Were all the gay students sitting together for safety in numbers? Anyway, this is obviously a great way to get the LGBT children (and preggos) under your care to feel comfortable with themselves and not want to commit suicide. ON OPPOSITE DAY.
According to the news report, this is not the first time Bond has spewed bigotry at children, either. But it being Tennessee, parents are “divided” on her. Ugh. Here’s hoping the state steps in and demotes her to a position where she can’t do any more damage. For added irony, let’s make it a one where she’s forced to be nice to gay kids all day long. Like glee club instructor.
