Just one week after Condomgate set the Efron-o-sphere ablaze with confirmation that Zac Efron is probably having sex (and safely!), the 24-year-old cutie has spoken about it on The Today Show, displaying an appropriate amount of good humor about the incident.
After some prerequisite discussion of Zac’s role in The Lorax, Matt Lauer busted out his sexy question with a sparkling twinkle in his eye, although it seemed quite difficult for him to actually say the word “condom.” “I never really had a pocket checking policy prior to going onto the red carpet before, but now we’ve fully instated one,” Efron replied, blushing a bit. Then, sensing weakness: “It was really hard for you to say!” Lauer assured him that he thinks condoms are great by affirming “better to be safe than sorry,” and Efron adorably responded that it’s “a great message to add to the many messages of the film.” But Lauer wasn’t finished with him, and insisted on making a dirty, nasty pun about his “production company.” Because he is 12.
People can make fun all they like, but that does not change the fact that Efron is kind of an unwitting safe sex hero now, which is great. He can drop a condom on our red carpet any time he likes.
