Six months ago, Megan Fox announced that the reason she was getting her Marilyn Monroe tattoo lasered off was because the tragic icon was bringing “negative energy” to her life. However, from a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, it sounds like Megan is regretting erasing this part of her just a little bit. (At left, Megan and Marilyn in happier times.)
As she showed the audience, most of the tattoo has already disappeared after just one session. However, the trade-off for such an effective process is the pain: She told Jay Leno that when the laser hits the ink, “your skin sort of explodes and little kernels of popcorn pop up. It’s traumatic and it’s incredibly painful. They can’t numb it enough to make the pain go away.”
Written out that looks pretty eye-rollingly dramatic, but in the video she seems more earnest about it. She laughs about how Marilyn “isn’t looking so good anymore” and admits that it may have been impulsive to get her many tats. “Everyone warned me and told me, ‘There’s gonna be a day when you’re not gonna love this stuff anymore. You’re gonna grow up,’ but I was stubborn and thought that I was going to love it forever, or that it would be like a book of my life, all the things that I loved when i was young. It’s not that way at all.”
The self-deprecation on “book of my life” gives me some new respect for the Friends with Kids star. You also had to laugh when she said she had “eight or nine, I haven’t counted.” She says that part of the reason she removed Marilyn was because it took so long in the makeup chair to cover it up, but from the sound of it — “this will be the easiest one to get rid of” — she might be stripping herself of a few more tats in the near future.
