Happy Leap Day! Apparently on the day that comes once every four years, we get rewarded with new movie trailers. Here’s the latest from Marvel’s The Avengers, written and directed by Joss Whedon. This could be the best trailer so far, since it shows us a detailed look at how Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) tracks down each of the superheroes.
And instead of jumping straight to everyone fighting well together, we also get glimpses of the growing pains as Fury’s “Avengers Initiative” starts to assemble. Captain America (Chris Evans) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) have some ego thing going on; Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), by his own admission, is “volatile and doesn’t play well with others”; and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) doesn’t seem very interested in joining up.
But when Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and his monsters are attacking New York City, there’s no time for petty rivalries or even time for training. Can May 4th get here any sooner?
Plus, I think that’s our first look at How I Met Your Mother‘s Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill!
