Yesterday MTV announced that it has ordered a third edition of its successful Teen Mom franchise. That’s right: Before you know it Teen Mom 3 will be on the airwaves, with a new crop of struggling mothers weighed down by unsupportive families and drug/alcohol problems. What’s especially interesting is that viewers will get to watch the whole story unfold once they tune in to season 4 of 16 and Pregnant. It’s most likely that the network will choose its Teen Mom 3 cast from whoever on 16 and Pregnant gets the best ratings.
Interestingly, none of the Teen Mom 2 girls seem at all supportive of this development. Take this Twitter exchange between Chelsea Houska and Jenelle Evans:
Jenelle: “@ChelseaHouska: @starcasm @pbandjenelley_1 @kaillowry @macibookoutmtv @catelynnlowell ha. Woww.” yeahhh……
Chelsea: @PBandJenelley_1 hahah I’m glad we feel the same on that situation
Not to mention that Kailyn Lowry‘s tweet is pretty damning:
Caryn Bennett (fan): @KailLowry how do YOU feel about TM3?
Kailyn: @carynhaskidS If I could state my opinion I would.
So far we’ve heard only bits and pieces about the 16 and Pregnant season 4 cast: There’s going to be 12 girls, more than any of the other seasons, and among them there’s a former cage-fighter, one girl who loses her babydaddy to a car accident, and one girl who claims to have gotten pregnant the first time she had sex. The Ashley’s Reality Roundup has photos and details on the moms.
We’ll meet the first round of moms with the premiere on March 27th at 10 p.m. EST. And here’s the trailer, from MTV:
According to Teen Mom Talk, the season 3 cast members were devastated when none of them was handpicked for Teen Mom 3. Of course, the girls on season 4 are no angels; the network had to bump Kia Pence after her brother sabotaged her segment, and rumor has it there was a Kardashian relative in the mix who got booted after she got knocked up for a second time.
In fact, it’s kind of terrifying to imagine what kinds of girls MTV does consider suitable for Teen Mom 3.
