Diablo Cody, The Hobbit, and Players: The Oscar Winners’ Next Projects

Woody Allen directing Jesse Eisenberg in Nero Fiddled

Maybe Woody Allen wasn’t at the Oscars to accept his Best Original Screenplay award because he was too busy on his new project Nero Fiddled? He’s partnering with Sony Classics again after the obvious success of Midnight in Paris for the movie: It’s set in Rome and has four vignettes, in both Italian and English. The “out and out comedy” is brimming with Oscar-nominated starsJesse Eisenberg, Alec Baldwin, Ellen Page – and will be Woody’s first acting role since Scoop. What do you want to be Jesse Eisenberg is gonna be channeling the famous director, eh?

Jim Rash Nat Faxon next project Kristen Wiig

Even before they won Best Adapted Screenplay for The Descendants, comedy writing team Nat Faxon and Jim Rash announced a new project: An action-comedy with fellow Groundlings alum Kristen Wiig attached to star. Now that they’re Oscar winners, I’m sure we’ll be getting a press release with more plot info any day now.

Bret McKenzie next project

Geeks are excited to see Best Original Song winner Bret McKenzie stretching his acting muscles as Lindir in The Hobbit; he also has a part in the comedy Austenland, about an obsessed woman who travels to a Jane Austen theme park. It’s unclear what, if any, music projects he has in development right now.
