Despite many grown ups’ fervent hopes that they would quit it with this shit, the Odd Future crew is back with a new LP. And, in advance of OF Tape Vol. 2‘s upcoming release, they’ve dropped a video for lead single “Rella” that crams in more offensive, adorable, and generally internet-y content than I previously thought possible for a 3.5 minute video clip. It’s almost like they know about The Village Voice‘s trollgaze index.
Over the course of the song, we see a plus-size stripper (which I guess is supposed to be inherently funny?) shaking it for one of the Transformers robots, a laser that turns people into kittens, a motor oil bukkake scene, a guy who can change the race of a woman by slapping her, furries making out, a giant pile of cocaine (which all goes up Tyler’s nose), and Tyler as a centaur. The guys also hijack the grand rock and roll tradition of dressing in drag, yet still somehow coming off like huge homophobes and misogynists. And then there’s the song, the manic verses of which show off the infuriatingly acrobatic rapping capabilities of Hodgy Beats, Domo Genesis, and Tyler. (It’s infuriating because I don’t want to admit these little shits have talent.)
All in all, it paints a pretty terrifying picture of the coming teen-pocalypse that is sure to be assisted by various forms of shorthand mobile communication that us over-21′s don’t even know about yet. I, for one, will be reinforcing my door so as to minimize my chances of being beaten to death with skateboards by a roving gang of 13-year-olds.
