In a fantasy world, you might want to be stranded on a deserted island with your favorite celebrity. But if it came down to the end of the world and you had to spend it with one person, who would it be? It’s important to have an answer for these questions so you’re not running around at the last minute trying to figure shit out.
In Steve Carrell‘s new movie, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, his character Dodge, is looking for the one who got away (aren’t we all?) before the world is destroyed by an asteroid named Mathilda. His neighbor Penny, played by Keira Knightley, decides to help him on his quest. Should we assume they fall in love in the process or is that a far too predictable ending? Maybe we should just root for the asteroid instead.
The movie was written by Lorene Scafaria, who is also the writer behind Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, so that should probably make for a great soundtrack for this apocalyptic romantic comedy. In fact the script is supposedly based on Chris Cornell‘s song “Preaching the End of the World,” so that right there might be a good sign for the music end of things.
So have you thought about it yet? Who would you spend your final days with if you could? Sure some celebrities may requiring being kidnapped and tied to you for those last weeks, but sometimes when push comes to shove, you just have to steal what you think is yours. Going to jail doesn’t have the same threatening effect if we’re counting down to the “end of days.”
