It was announced this morning that celebrated rapper, personality and lip-licker LL Cool J will host the Grammy Awards on February 12 this year. He will be the award show’s first host since 2005, when I guess Queen Latifah sucked so badly it put the Grammy people off hosts for seven whole years.
“I’m thrilled to be part of Music’s Biggest Night,” the 44-year-old rapper said in a statement. “I will always have fond memories of my first Grammy Awards and to now be hosting the Grammy show, in the company of so many other incredible artists, is a dream come true.”
LL has been hosting the live Grammy nominations show since 2008, so this is a huge promotion for him. This year’s star-studded program will include performances from Kelly Clarkson, The Foo Fighters, Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj, and Taylor Swift. There’s no word yet on six-Grammy nominee Adele, but there are rumors swirling that she will perform despite having recently had throat surgery.
