After W.E., Madonna Wants To Make A Kate Middleton/Prince William Romance

Madonna directing on the set of W.E.Riding high after winning Best Song for W.E. at the Golden Globes – which she also co-wrote and directed — Madonna has turned her sights on another crowd-pleasing British couple: Prince William and Kate Middleton. She told the Mirror that she’s definitely considered making a film about the young love that led to the Royal Wedding and our country’s current obsession with the prince and his new bride. Thankfully, she realizes that it definitely shouldn’t happen before 2020.

“I think maybe it is too soon to make a film about William and Kate but I definitely would if I could wait a decade first,” she said. “I like Kate Middleton and think she’s quite chic and intelligent. I hope she’s a fan of mine, too.” (Not surprising that Madge said this, since she’s now buddies with W.E. star Andrea Riseborough, who played Wallis Simpson.)

Madonna should definitely give herself several years to research Will and Kate the way she did Wallis and Edward VIII, since the Lifetime and Hallmark movies about the young newlyweds were boring, uninspired, and basically rip-offs of The Prince and Me.

Fun fact: Kate Middleton is related to Madonna’s ex-husband Guy Ritchie; they’re separated by six cousins, CNN reported in early 2011 before her wedding to Will.
