If you, like most people who like to laugh, were sorely disappointed when Starz canceled its brilliant show Party Down, rejoice: like fellow cult hit Arrested Development, the dark comedy is set to be resurrected in movie form.
A few weeks back, Adam Scott revealed that this was almost definitely happening, save for a few remaining roadblocks. Now, Deadline reports that Megan Mullally has stated the news in even more confident terms during a panel to promote the Fox comedy Breaking In, of which she is the newest cast member. “John [Enbom] is writing it right now, I’m excited about that,” she said, adding later that the whole cast would be back, with the possible exception of Jane Lynch, who did not appear in much of the second season, either. On her own character’s arc, she offered, “I think we’re going to see Lydia’s ex-husband — Ed I think is his name — who was really racist and a misogynist.” Oh boy!
Mullally says filming will take place in late spring or early summer. I, for one, can’t wait to see what’s next for the hapless L.A. catering crew.
