We’re trying to figure out if reality TV star Jim Bob Duggar were helping or harming Rick Santorum when he and most of his huge family attended the Iowa caucus in support of the Republican candidate. See, Jim Bob endorses Santorum as our next President, but added that “Republicans are not going to find a perfect candidate, unless it’s Jesus Christ.” That’s a pretty tall order there, Jim Bob. Plus now you’ve made everyone uncomfortable by explicitly bringing religion into things when there’s supposed to be a separation between church and state.
Not to worry, he did say some actually positive things about his buddy. He told BuzzFeed that he and his kids drove overnight to Iowa from Arkansas, after praying on Santorum’s success. His reasoning? “All the people in America that have conservative family values have to get behind Rick Santorum for President.” There’s also the matter that Santorum and his family have experienced a very similar loss to the Duggars: Just as the cast of 19 Kids and Counting distributed photos of their unborn child Jubilee Shalom Duggar, Santorum’s wife miscarried their son Gabriel and later brought him home for the family to say goodbye.
Also, Jim Bob has served in the Arkansas House of Representatives. Ironically, he has more political experience than Jesus.
