I saw this at a Yankee Swap, and it was so simple but thoughtful: An artist friend wrapped a simple notebook you could buy at any store (though we’d suggest a nicer bookstore like The Strand) and included an original drawing on the first page. Even if you’re not a professional, you could inscribe a poem or share some jokes—whatever fits your talent.
This is one of my favorite treats; my mom introduced it to my sister and me ages ago, it having been her childhood favorite. Asher's is the best quality; they double-dip their chips for maximum crunchiness.
"But this retails for $14!" you might argue. Ah, but $14 gets you four 4-oz bags. Each one on its own is incredibly rich, so you could gift three to your friends--it's unusual and most people haven't tried it or have wanted to--and save one for yourself.
Everyone could use one of these; chances are you’ll wind up on a bus trip during Thanksgiving or watching a movie on your laptop with a new friend and not want to deal with each having only one headphone. Plus, this coral-lookalike splitter is rather classy.

We have the 2011 version of this hanging in our office, and it's always a delight to turn the new month and see which cutie is greeting us next--the baby animals, though the guys are fun, too. It's also fun to see if the photographers paired the hunks with animals who match their personalities. (Or as much of their personalities as we can guess from their lack of shirts.)
OPI’s the best there is in nail color, and this is a great way to try out a couple of new colors—or one of the themed ones inspired by The Muppets and Pirates of the Caribbean—without fully committing.
One of the most addicting things is the list of Kindle books available for only $9.99. My Hunger Games friends told me I should check out the next hot dystopian novel Divergent, so of course I snatched it up. Other titles available are The Help, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Bossypants. (OK, that one's $13... close enough, right?)
