’30 Something Grandmas’ Already Has Me Sold

Teen Mom 2 is a spin-off of Teen Mom which is the second phase of 16 and Pregnant. You might think the teens procreating craze would have worn off by now, but for those of us who can’t get enough of the struggles of calculus and colic, there’s another show in the teen parent genre in development, “30 Something Grandmas.”

A casting call has been posted looking for women who get to wear I Love Grammy sweatshirts before they hit forty, and while I doubt this new show will technically be part of the Teen Mom franchise since it’s a little outside MTVs demographics, it’s the thirty something grandma’s of 16 and Pregnant that have me so excited for this show. Some have been supportive, some have stepped up to fill a parenting role, and almost all have had at least one moment on camera when they look at their expectant daughter with a palpable sadness, like they’re seeing their future limited before their eyes.

It will be interesting to see if the show gets mostly women with infant grandchildren or a mix of slightly older kids, since Teen Mom and Teen Mom 2 seem to be getting a lot more interesting (and often times, sadder) as the kids get old enough to sense the drama that’s going on around them.
