Fans of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy rejoice! They’re making a movie out of The Hobbit, the original book that did so well, J.R.R. Tolkein’s publisher demanded three sequels.
Like the book, this movie follows the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, bumbling homebody and uncle to Frodo. Originally titled The Hobbit, or There and Back Again, the film follows Bilbo’s enlistment by Gandalf to travel with his gang of dwarves over the Misty Mountains to win back the treasure guarded by the dragon Smaug. Some say this film looks redundant and unnecessary, to which I say: Um, have you ever read The Hobbit? Bilbo is a much cooler character than Frodo, in my opinion, and Martin Freeman (whom IMBD bills a bit too far below Cate Blanchett for my liking) is a fine British actor. My only gripe is that the movie doesn’t come out for a whole year. Then again, I guess it’s never too early to get nerds excited/arguing about something.
