The Dark Knight Rises Trailer Is Fantastic And Also Possibly About Occupy Wall Street

It’s finally here—the first full-length trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, the third movie in Christopher Nolan‘s Batman trilogy. Even though we know plenty about the movie’s new villains thanks to on-set reports and photos, Nolan and co. managed to keep some of the plot under wraps. To wit: It seems that part of the film’s conflict is the haves (like Christian Bale‘s Bruce Wayne) versus the have-nots (surprisingly, led by Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman).

It’s ironic, since Dark Knight Rises was filming down near Occupy Wall Street. You get the impression that this uprising from Gotham City’s poor will be two-pronged: Bane (Tom Hardy) busting out deadly prisoners and setting off land mines at an all-American football game, and Selina Kyle infiltrating Gotham’s wealthy population a la Justin Timberlake in In Time.

And don’t forget that the tagline on the newest poster reads The legend ends. All this, happening on July 20, 2012.
