We need to talk about We Need To Talk About Kevin. A new trailer for this psychological thriller came out just in time for Halloween, and it’s appropriately scary. In it, Tilda Swinton plays the mother of Kevin, a bad seed type who seems to have murder on his mind from day one. Even her pregnancy is creepy.
Whereas the first trailer for the movie focused on Kevin’s twisted inner monologue, the second shows things from the mom’s point of view, and we get to see her watch in terror as her little baby boy grows up into someone capable of massacring a school. Although both the film and the book it’s based on are fictional, they mirror real life events like the Columbine Massacre, so I expect this film will be frightening in a much more immediate way than your average horror movie. As far as I know, nothing happens in this movie that hasn’t happened already in the world as we know it.
This could prove to be another step towards fame and acclaim for Ezra Miller, who stars as the title sociopath, and whose role in Beware The Gonzo we’ve previously discussed. Will this be his ticket out of the teen movie racket and into Oscar territory? Something tells me he’s going to make an extremely alluring sociopath.
