Not surprisingly, Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries set up a prenuptial agreement back in June before their highly-publicized wedding special on E! And considering that their marriage made it only 72 days, you would think they’d be grateful for having hashed out the financial details. Except that it sounds like Kris gets nada… which makes us wonder how much control he’s had in this whole situation.
According to people “familiar with the prenup,” the California 50-50 law doesn’t apply to such a short marriage. And of course, they kept assets separate anyway—probably the work of Kim’s momager Kris Jenner. Kris can’t even ask for the $2 million engagement ring back: California law does butt in here to say that once he said “I do,” the ring is Kim’s. Also, he didn’t pay for the ring.
The prevailing theory is that everything about Kim and Kris’ relationship — romance, engagement, marriage, divorce — has been pre-scripted and is being doled out in pieces to up the ratings for the Kardashian family. It’s assumed that Kris is going along with all of this, especially when it came out that Kim basically “cast” her husband from the NBA. But maybe he’s really not part of this. After all, Kris made sure to tell TMZ, “I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents.”
Kim’s assets from her reality show and brands are fully protected here, but Kris might not even get the $3.2 million he made last year because of the NBA lockout.
