What is it with swimsuit/lingerie models thinking they can act? First Brooklyn Decker in Just Go With It, then Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Transformers 3, and now Marisa Miller, who will make her movie debut in the supernatural action flick R.I.P.D. (She’s already had guest spots on TV shows like How I Met Your Mother.) At least this role will be more challenging than Rosie and Brooklyn’s: She plays Jeff Bridges. Sort of.
R.I.P.D. is based on a comic book series about a cop (played by Ryan Reynolds) who gets murdered and joins the Rest in Peace Department, a ghostly police force that tracks down spirits who refuse to go to the afterlife. Jeff Bridges is Ryan’s mentor, but no one in the real world can see him. That’s where Marisa is: She plays Jeff’s “human avatar,” or the person that living people see in his place.
I guess we can expect Marisa to offer sage advice about life and death in a gravelly voice. Like I said, at least she’s got a role that challenges her more than walking around in her boyfriend’s T-shirt and gaping in fear at alien machines (coughTransformerscough). She could probably get some pointers from Tara Reid, who hilariously channeled The Dude in the faux-sequel The Big Lebowski 2.
