Michael Lohan and Kate Major may no longer be dating, but thanks to reality TV timelines, we’re still stuck in the middle of their break-up. On Sunday night’s episode of Celebrity Rehab, Kate and Michael had an explosive fight about a paparazzi photograph of Michael kissing Real Housewives of New Jersey hanger-on Kim G. Michael said it was a publicity photo, but on Tuesday, Kim helpfully posted a video explaining that the kiss was real, and taunting Kate that she and Michael are now an item.
But Kate wasn’t ready to let that lie. She gave Crushable a call yesterday to clarify her feelings about Kim G., and how her career as a celebrity reporter did not prepare her for being in the spotlight.
First, her thoughts on Kim G.:
“What piece of trash acts like that? She’s just disgusting. I think Kim G. is full of shit, I think she is a complete conniving wackjob who just wants fame.”
Despite never having met any of the Housewives, Kate said that she’s on Teresa Giudice and Caroline Manzo‘s side. Kim G. doesn’t have any allies, she added: Her own son is ashamed of her. “I know a lot of people who know [Kim]‘s son Chris really well,” she said. “He can’t even stand his mother; he’s embarrassed by her.”
A year ago, Kate was planning to marry Michael Lohan. A few years before that, she was a reporter at Star. But some people do not do well in the spotlight, and Kate says she has had no luck controlling the press about her, which started when she began dating another famous dad, Jon Gosselin:
“I did PR, so it’s not like I’m ignorant to what’s going on. I just am literally at a loss. I feel like a caged animal that can’t get out. It’s really hard to date someone who’s a celebrity and high-status and it’s in the press almost every day. It’s like living in a fishbowl with constant people scrutinizing you and criticizing you.”
She is understandably not happy about how she was portrayed on Celebrity Rehab, especially because she feels that the producers tricked not only viewers, but also the show’s caretakers, against her:
“There were things said about me, which weren’t shown on-camera, that were completely false, which gave the counselors and the directors of Celebrity Rehab a reason to be judgmental. If I was aware of any of that, I never would’ve shown up.”
She feels that her association with the show has irreparably tainted her reputation: “I never had plans to go into rehab, ever. Dr. Drew and his team, and what other people said about me, came to a conclusion about me that was so unfair and so wrong, and now I have to deal with those repercussions for the rest of my life. I feel that I was treated very unfairly, but the more I think about it, I think, Why would these people come to a conclusion about me when I wasn’t even there and I wasn’t being treated?”
Whether Kate decides to eventually go to rehab or not, it’s clear the last year hasn’t been good for her. This was probably the most telling thing she said to us:
“I was planning my wedding a year ago, and a year later it’s like, look at where I’m at.”
