Although Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice has made no secret of her goal to get on Dancing with the Stars, it appears that the popular reality show isn’t interested. In response to a fan’s tweet that Teresa should be on DWTS, Teresa responded, “Would ♥ to but they don’t want Housewives this season. But Playmates are OK?”
If DWTS tried to claim a moral high ground, they don’t have much evidence in their favor – past contestants include Kendra Wilkinson, Kim Kardashian, and Joanna Krupa, all of whom are famous for baring their bodies. But more likely, the choice not to cast Teresa had to do with some other factors, including:
- The Housewives franchise is owned by NBC/Universal, but DWTS is a property of ABC/Disney. It might just be an issue of the network wanting to promote its own stars (remember when spurned Bachelorette Melissa Rycroft joined the show?).
- They might not want to be associated with Teresa and her ongoing legal issues/bankruptcy/whatever.
- There might be a moratorium on reality stars as DWTS tries to go more legit, but considering they reportedly cast Rob Kardashian for this season, that might not be the case. Or else there’s a one-reality-star-per-season quota.
- Teresa just sucks, and the show was trying to break up with her gently so she wouldn’t key their car or call their new girlfriend.
