Movie Trailer Deja Vu: Comparing ‘Footloose’ 1984 to ‘Footloose’ 2011

What should you do when you have a famous iconic movie that everyone has seen? Make it again with new people, obviously. Footloose came out in 1984. It had great success at the box office, but that isn’t stopping Hollywood from remaking it in the least necessary way. Taking apart the trailers from the soon-to-be-released 2011 version and the original 1984 version, we find that they are almost the exact same movie (but the new version has grinding! lots of grinding!) despite the attempt at modernization.

Sorry! This video is no longer available.

[Note: A huge shout out goes to my big brother, Pete Polesnak, who provided the lovely voiceover for this alternative trailer.]

This has to be the funnist video ever! I grew up on the original and it looks like the new version has much of the same! (plus more grinding) I laughed my butt off watching this fun creative look at re makes! HAHAHAHAHA (your brother has a great voice…he should do radio)

I love the modern new angle of the blue truck getting its headlight taken out…now your just making me want to see the “re-vamped” version! Footloose is the greatest movie of all time and I cant wait to see the new version! thanks for showing the differences…or the not so differences!

I wish they would stop remaking things and get new ideas. I love the original Footloose and this will not compare in any way.

Too Funny! But unless this remake stars either, the offspring of the originals’ actors, or they have the original 80′s cast play the stuffy townsfolk, I am not interested. I DEMAND to see Kevin Bacon and Sara Jessica Parker burn some books. Or maybe Jon Lithgow in a role reversal be the owner of the feed mill conveniently situated “Just Outside of the City Limits!

Great video. Love the intermittent graphics. They add to the hilarity. LOL LOVED IT

Bits of old & new blended, for comparison, how clever! N. Y. ers actually go to movies? Street performances & excited voyeurs would seem to make going to a film, passé.
