Even though there’s a whole new crop of stars on Degrassi: The Next Generation doesn’t mean that we don’t have a special place in our hearts for the original characters. Such is the case for Daniel Clark, who left the show in 2007: Fleshbot editor Lux Alptraum just tweeted, Saw Sean from Degrassi at the salon I get lasered at. That’s the kind of celeb sighting that excites me. Us too!
Sean Cameron was the show’s first bad boy, a poor kid who fell too easily into gangs and violence even while he tried to romance the series’ then-protagonist, Emma Nelson (Miriam McDonald). He was at the center of a school shooting, drugs and alcohol, theft, and manslaughter… then turned it all around and joined the (Canadian) army. The last we saw of him, he got shipped off to Afghanistan, but not before recreating the photo from his and Emma’s awkward first date seven years prior.
Surprisingly, there aren’t any “Sean’s best moments” compilations on YouTube, but I did find this delightfully cheesy Sean/Emma fanvid:
And Daniel Clark? He hasn’t been up to much since Degrassi wrapped up Sean’s storyline. He had a blink-or-you’ll-miss-it cameo in Juno, and appeared in a horror flick called Left for Dead. Another user tweeted at Lux that when teenage girls ask for Clark’s autograph “he looks like he hates his life.” We say, embrace the Degrassi fame!
