Adele‘s new album 21 is gorgeous, and her voice is fierce. However, the guy whose relationship with Adele inspired many of the songs on 21 and her previous album 19 now says he deserves a cut of the royalties. The guy, whom she still hasn’t identified publicly, reached out to Adele once she hit it big and said that he wanted a share of the album profits.
Adele said: “For about a week he was calling and was deadly serious about it.
“Finally, I said, ‘Well, you made my life hell, so I lived it and now I deserve it.’
“He really thought he’d had some input into the creative process by being a p****. I’ll give him this credit – he made me an adult and put me on the road that I’m travelling.”
I think that if he really wants a cut, the tradeoff should be that Adele posts his full name, address, email, and phone number somewhere public so that any girl who got over a breakup via Adele’s songs can egg her ex’s house. It’s only fair, really.
