According to a tabloid report, Brad Womack and Emily Maynard had dinner together last night in Austin, Texas. Although it has been reported that the couple broke up and their engagement is off, the fact that they were in the same city at the same time is supposed to indicate that they’re back on. To be honest, even if they got married tomorrow I still wouldn’t believe in the deepness of their love or whatever. My theory is that The Bachelor has something in its contract about remaining a couple for a certain amount of time, and that Brad and Emily are bound to that. (Ironically, the contract for Bachelors and final rose recipients was said to have become more strict after Brad’s initial “I choose me” Bachelor moment.) Considering neither Brad nor Emily has given a gushy interview to Life and Style magazine lately, I suspect that they’re still off, but they’re just not allowed to say so on the record. (Brad’s disappearing Twitter account lends credence to that theory.) Once Ashley Hebert‘s new season of The Bachelorette kicks off and the bulk of the attention is on her, Brad and Emily will probably be allowed to break up officially. That is, unless Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez actually get married on TV, in which case ABC is going to want to pack the stands with the few remaining happy Bachelor and Bachelorette couples.
Sorry, Brad and Emily. I know this must suck for you. Breakups are never fun, and I’m sure they’re even less fun in the glow of the spotlight. But next time you might want to read the fine print on those contracts.
