When cartoonist Bill Watterson retired and pulled the plug on Calvin & Hobbes, I was devastated. The notoriously private artist, who does not do interviews and has never permitted licensing of his characters, has finally resurfaced. Watterson contributed a painting to Team Cul De Sac, a group that raises money for Parkinson’s research. The organization was founded by another cartoonist, Richard Thompson, whose comic is called Cul de Sac and who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s several years ago. Watterson’s drawing depicts a Cul de Sac character named Petey Otterloop.
If you need me, I’ll be in a corner tweaking out and trying to recreate Susie Derkins’ haircut on myself.
