The 7 Most Bizarre Instances of Extreme Branding

Morgan Spurlock‘s new documentary POM Wonderful Presents The Greatest Movie Ever Sold is in theaters today, April 22 — perhaps you’ve already gotten the joke. A doc about making a movie that’s funded entirely by corporate sponsors (he uses Iron Man as his yardstick), all of the footage is of Spurlock approaching these corporations for funding. It’s a little bit Inception-y — “I’m watching Morgan Spurlock call up [x corporation] to give him money, and they’re talking about how in the movie the footage would be of him calling the company…” — and very meta. It’s also fascinating and very entertaining.

But while Spurlock points out how prevalent product placement is in Hollywood, it’s also creeping into our daily lives. Thanks to sites like Lease Your Body and Human Ad Space, our bodies are becoming prime space for corporations looking to reach every possible consumer. Check out our gallery of instances where branding gets uncomfortably close to our homes, our bodies, and our minds.
