After Brad Womack gave the final rose to Emily Maynard on the most recent season of The Bachelor, it hasn’t been a flower garden. They admitted on the show’s reunion episode that they’d already broken up once and gotten back together since the finale, and neither one seemed willing to compromise on where they were going to live (Brad is based in Austin, Texas; Emily and her young daughter live in Charlotte, NC). Now, Life and Style is reporting that Emily dumped Brad over the phone. Harsh!
The source for the story are some “friends” of Emily’s, who say that Emily herself is not allowed to speak to the press because of her contract with The Bachelor:
Her contract with ABC prevents her from speaking out about the relationship without the network’s permission — and Life & Style has learned ABC called her on April 13 specifically to remind her of that point. Though the network can’t force them to stay together, a source says they have encouraged Emily to try to work things out with Brad, because they want Bachelor couples to make it down the aisle. “In the end, they try to control it,” Deanna Pappas — who competed on Brad’s first season and went on to star on The Bachelorette — tells Life & Style.
Either way, breaking up with your fiance over the phone is pretty cold. Does this mean that Brad is going to do a third season of The Bachelor? If that happens they should just change the name of the program to The Brad Womack Show. If he did more things like making Katy Perry lipdubs with his brother, I might actually watch it.
