And here we present you with the trailer for The Help, based on the 2009 best seller. Emma Stone is outfitted in frumpy chic, rocking a Southern accent. Serious social issues are being tackled. If not the stuff Oscars are made of, it at least meets the requirements of a Golden Globe. And then comes the song- the chick flick empowerment song. The song that commands you to be inspired, so inspired you feel compelled to write a list of goals on the back of your junior mints box while the credits roll.
Overall The Help looks promising, and I’m interested to see whether the movie’s release will bring back attention to the allegation author Kathryn Stockett heavily based one of her characters on her brother’s nanny. They’re going to need something to talk about on the Today show.
