The fourth season of Real Housewives of New York City premiered last night, and the spotlight was focused mainly on last season’s conflict between Jill Zarin and Alex McCord. I might be in the minority here, but I honestly do feel bad for Jill. Yeah, she did some not-nice things, and said some regrettable things, but so did everyone else. If Bethenny Frankel and Ramona Singer were able to get away with the biting things they said and did, why can’t Jill? I’ve been re-watching the first few seasons in anticipation of the fourth season’s arrival, and I don’t understand why Alex McCord is so upset with Jill. Alex says the reason she’s cool with Bethenny and Ramona is because they “own” the mean things that they say, but Jill never takes responsibility for her actions. Maybe that was true in the past, but it seems like Jill is ready to own what she said and did, and move on. Alex, however, seems to want to be the queen of accountability, and takes everything Jill says as a slight. While reality stars shouldn’t blame editing, Jill did seem to be cast as the villain last season.
Maybe, like Jill, I just root for the underdog. Watch this video of the ladies talking about Jill’s actions seasons past and this season. And tell us what you think.
