I don’t know about you, Gentle Readers, but I have always found dolls to be incredibly creepy. And like many deep-seated fears, it all goes back to a traumatic childhood event: When I was a wee little thing, the room that I slept in whenever I visited my grandparents was also home to the most terrifying ventriloquist’s dummy imaginable. Naturally, I refused to set foot in the room when the dummy was in there. Every time I arrived, I would ask my grandparents if they had removed it, and every time, they would reply that they had. But of course, as soon as I crossed the threshold into the room… THERE IT WOULD BE. Staring at me. Mocking me. Daring me to touch it.
It was at this point that I usually ran out of the room screaming my little five-year-old head off.
Fortunately, I have recently found that I am not, in fact, the only person with this terrible fear of dolls. As it so happens, there is even a book, Creepy-Ass Dolls by Stacey Leigh Brooks, that reveals to the world the horrifying nature of these tiny plastic and porcelain creatures. In honor of this remarkable book and its illustrious author, we present to you our own collection of Creepy-Ass Dolls, courtesy of the wonder that is eBay. Prepare to be terrified!
