9 Non-Porn Movies Featuring Real Sex

Oh, Hollywood gossip; you are so very entertaining. And this is why we love books about you so very much.

Case in point: Infamous Players: A Tale of Movies, the Mob, (and Sex) by former Paramount executive and Variety editor Peter Bart. Due out on May 3, Bart’s behind-the-scenes book posits that the sex scene between actors Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie in the 1973 film Don’t Look Now was, in fact, utterly unsimulated. Sutherland denies the claim, but it’s a fascinating possibility nonetheless. It might surprise you, however, how many mainstream films there are out there that feature actual sex; here, we’ve assembled for your consideration nine of the best:

1) Don’t Look Now (1973)
The current case in question. Don’t Look Now focuses on the Baxters, a married couple played by Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie who have just lost their daughter to drowning. When a pair of elderly sisters claim that they are psychically in contact with the drowned daughter, the Baxters find their lives thrown into chaos. The wife, Laura, naturally faints at the news and is summarily taken to the hospital; however, upon her release, she and her husband, John, have a night of wild, passionate sex. And this, my friends, is the current hot piece of news: Rumor now has it that that night of wild, passionate sex happened for real.

2) Pink Flamingos (1972)
This film may well be cult classic John Waters’ most notorious: Infamous drag queen Divine, living in a mobile home decorated by a pair of pink flamingoes with her family, earns the title of “filthiest person alive.” Of course, their local pair of wealthy holier-than-thous are furious about this and attempt to undo the tight-knit family, ultimately undoing themselves instead. The film features, among many other “shocking” acts, a real live blow job. Notably, there is no footage from the movie anywhere in its trailer.

3)Factory Girl (2006)

Rumors about this Edie Sedgwick biopic are unsubstantiated, but an “insider” on the film claimed that the sex scene between Sienna Miller and Hayden Christensen was real. Miller has denied this, but that’s the pesky thing about rumors: They’re just so persistent…
