How To Make Your Very Own Hobbit Hole

See this? This is a Hobbit hole. You know, a hole that J. R. R. Tolkien’s furry-footed little creatures live in. You know what’s awesome about this Hobbit hole? It’s a HANDMADE DOLLHOUSE.

Meet Maddie Chambers:

Maddie lives in Chesterfield, England. After having worked in IT for 12 years, she gave birth to twins in 2007. Maddie had initially thought that she would want to go right back to work as soon as possible after her boys were born; but once the little bundles of joy came along, she realized that what she really wanted was to spend as much time as possible with them before they reached school age. So she became a stay at home mom. Maddie kept herself busy, though; when the boys were one, she started taking a part-time college course called “The Importance of Play.” The final project? Make a toy. And Maddie, remember her long-time love of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, went all out and build this dollhouse of Bilbo’s and Frodo’s home, Bag End.

The detail is simply astounding. I can’t even begin to imagine the time and effort that went into making this; it truly is a work of art. Maddie recreated the hall:

I love miniature things – it’s always been my biggest fantasy/make-believe moment to be miniaturized and live in a doll house. :) I’m not the only one, right?
