Although the new season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey hasn’t started yet, there’s already enough buzz to keep the show going for years. At the end of season two, the show was down two Housewives: Dina Manzo quit because she didn’t want to be part of the drama anymore, and hated-by-all Danielle Staub reportedly got canned. So who’s joining the cast? Bravo is apparently keeping it in the family, adding Teresa Giudice‘s sister-in-law Melissa Gorga. Giudice and Gorga (who is married to Teresa’s brother) reportedly can’t stand each other, and there have been reports that the two came to blows during Gorga’s son’s christening. There are also rumors that the fifth Housewife is Giudice’s cousin, Kathy Wakile, who also doesn’t have a great relationship with Teresa. What does this mean for season three?
In order to stay on Real Housewives, you have to create drama. Remember DeShawn and Lisa from Real Housewives of Atlanta? Of course you don’t, because they were boring and got kicked off. Since nobody in the cast or crew could stand Danielle, that negated her ability to cause trouble. So how will RHONJ get its drama factor next season? I think it’s going to come from Teresa becoming the new villain. Think about it: she’s already showed that she has a temper (“prostitution whore” table-flipping incident, anyone?) and that she can generate headlines for the show (her bankruptcy scandal among them). Casting her as the new Housewife We Love to Hate would capitalize on the backlash from her spendthrift ways, and it would reboot the show as well. Adding two cast members who have beef with Teresa only gives the show more ammunition. She has already proven that she has a short temper and trouble controlling her emotions, so casting two people she already has existing issues with is basically poking all her crazy-ass buttons. Mark my words: season three is going to be when everyone turns on Teresa.
