Christopher Nolan hates doing anything that could be considered ordinary. So the reboot of Batman first had as its villains two people we never heard of: Ra al al Ghul (played by Liam Neeson) and The Scarecrow (a minor figure mainly known for roles in Arkham Asylum and Calendar Man).
And for love interests, Nolan hasn’t given his deep-throated Batman any breaks either. After killing off Rachel Dawes in The Dark Knight, there seemed little hope that Bruce Wayne would just jump back in the dating pool. But new rumors on the website Collider say that The Dreamers Eva Green and “Mrs. Liev Schrieber” Naomi Watts may have already been cast as the two new Bat-loves in The Dark Knight Returns.
Vicky Vale, a reporter who was played by Kim Basinger in Tim Burton’s Batman, would presumably be the love interest, while Talia al Ghul is the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul (played by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins) and in the comics has been an anti-hero/love-interest for Batman. Hit the jump for more rumors regarding The Dark Knight Rises, which is set to be released on July 20, 2012.
Collider goes on to say that Eva would be taking Talia’s role, while Naomi would play Vicky. (Though we have a source in the Hollywood scene who says that’s backwards, and Eva has already been cast as Vicky.)
Meanwhile, it’s also being reported that screen tests are going out to Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel, Kate Mara, Charlotte Riley, and possibly Gemma Arterton. So who do you think would make the best Mrs. Batman? And who will be our next Catwoman??!
