Lauryn Hill is an extremely talented performer. But her brand of evangelical crazy has been hard to overcome since she split up with The Fugees. And it was in full effect in New York last night. She had a comeback showed scheduled, but showed up to the performance four hours late.
Surprisingly, her fans were still there when Lauryn showed up. But they weren’t happy. They booed her. And Lauryn explained that was unacceptable.
“Don’t do that. That’s disrespectful. I spent my entire 20s sacrificing my life to give you love. So when I hear people complain, I don’t know what to tell you… I personally know I’m worth the wait.”
But you don’t always get what you expect with Lauryn. A Crushable friend who worked at Lauryn’s literary agency tells us that Lauryn was once working on a book. It never got published, because everyone at the agency thought it was a memoir.
Actually, it was “an addendum to the new testament that God had dictated to her in a vision.”
It’s actually too bad it never made it to print. Because that sounds kind of awesome.
