There are girls that can pull off the heels look: you know, the chicks who you’ve seen so little times that you start to imagine that maybe they sleep with Jimmy Choos on. Then there are chicks like us, who stand in proud defense of their sneaks, and whose every attempt at tottering in high heels ends up disastrously.
But there has to be a middle ground: That’s why Crushable’s started “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes,” a program designed to test out pumps from all different brands (who have all graciously provided tester heels for the experiment) to determine which are the most user-friendly to novices like us. Over the course of several weeks, we’ll be wearing each type of shoe for different occasions – work, drinks, hell, maybe even to a party or two – and rating the model on functionality (can you wear these to a classy date as well as class?), comfort, “class factor,” and terrain mobility (hey, New York has a lot of grates!). We’ll also tell you our personal experiences, and hope you’ll give us yours!
For our first trial pair, Ann Taylor has let us walk a week in their Perfect Patent Pumps. Compared to what we usually wear, we’re sort of afraid the cops are going to think we stole them. Check back on Friday and hear our results, and let us know about your personal experiences with the flats-to-heels transition!
