How long until the Old Spice advertisers merge with the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon producers to make an ultimate feedback loop between Twitter, YouTube, and actual television? Not to go too deep into the rabbit hole here, but TV isn’t really a two-way communication device, yet Jimmy Fallon has convinced people that he reads all of their Internet tweets about him, and in doing so has probably won the game. You know, the game of convincing advertisers that television isn’t dead and if you sing enough songs about dinosaurs and memes, you can actually convince Internet subcultures to reorder cable (or at least watch your highlight reel on NBC.com).
