Why is Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks modeling this knit scarf on the online grassroots marketplace Etsy.com?
Christina posed for the pics in the online boutique for a small L.A.-based designer called Blackbird Design House, owned by her friend, actress Tamara Mello, who was also one of Christina’s bridesmaids in her wedding last year, reported TheWrap. Guess Christina owed her one.
The one-of-a-kind 60-inch long scarf, which retails for $130, is hand-knit, “using different fibers to create its unique texture before being wet felted and molded,” the Etsy shop explains. “I was inspired by the Japanese dying technique Shibori when I created this piece.”
Although this scarf won’t be duplicated, Blackbird also sells other products, like planter cozies and recycled crayons, a portion of the proceeds from which will be donated to the non-profit Inner-City Arts.
