When I was a kid I was terrified of Gumby and anything that involved Claymation/stop motion. You know, anything with puppets or that I would later associate with Jan Svankmajer. That was of course, before leaps and bounds were made in the cartoon world: In the aughts, Pixar reformed how we look at these supposedly kid’s films, with dazzling productions like Up and Wall-E. But don’t be fooled, Pixar can be just as creepy as Claymation, as this short Alma by Rodrigo Blaas proved. It’s like delving into the world of Amelie/Delicatessen, but with pretty pictures and a hyper-attention to details!
