The upcoming ABC Family series Pretty Little Liars may still have us completely confused, but as we head towards its June 8 premiere, we thought we’d take a closer look at the show’s four young female stars: Lucy Hale, who plays Aria, Troian Bellisario who’s Spencer, Ashley Benson as Hanna and Shay Mitchell, who plays Emily. And don’t forget the other talented young actress on the show, Sasha Pieterse, who plays the mysterious fifth friend, Alison, whose secret unites the girls.
If her name sounds familiar that would be because her dad is television producer Donald Bellisario, who created Magnum, P.I., Quantum Leap, JAG and NCIS. Not surprisingly, Troian — who also goes by the name Troian Avery Bellisario — has been cast in a number of her dad’s projects, including lesser known TV series like Tequila and Bonetti and Last Monday. Most recently, Donald cast Troian in a two-episode arc on NCIS, where she played the sister of her stepbrother in real life, Sean Murray‘s character, Special Agent Timothy McGee. Her dad also wrote an episode of Quantum Leap for Troian called “A Portrait for Troian,” which aired when she was four years old. Her mom, actress Deborah Pratt, played Troian in the episode, and also appeared in a number of Quantum Leap episodes. In addition to Pretty Little Liars, Troian also has a role in the upcoming film Peep World, which stars Judy Greer, Kate Mara, Michael C. Hall, Rainn Wilson, Taraji P. Henson, Sarah Silverman and Ben Schwartz.
