Steven R. McQueen — the young Colin Farrell lookalike currently starring in Vampire Diaries on the CW — comes from an acting family. His grandfather is (no surprise here) Steve McQueen and his grandmother is Neile Adams. His dad, Chad McQueen, is also an actor, and his mom, Stacy Toten, also has a few credits to her name. So it’s fitting that Steven has entered the family business. His first acting credit was an episode of Threshold, when he was 16.
Now, at 21, Steven is most well known for playing Kyle on Everwood, although Vampire Diaries is his first starring role on a TV show. On the show, Steven plays Jeremy, a character not in the book series that the show is based on. In the books, his character is actually a 4-year-old girl. But if you ask us, we’d much rather see Steven in the mix — and his dark, boyish looks round out the young hottie quotient for VD, with other male leads Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley.
And when he’s not busy playing troubled teen Jeremy, or playing guest roles on TV shows like N3mbers, CSI: Miami and Without A Trace, Steven finds time to work on his movie career. He had a role in the indie film Club Soda and is set to star in the sci-fi action flick Piranha 3-D with Elizabeth Shue and Jerry O’Connell, due in theaters in August.
Steven also seems like a pretty well-rounded guy, if his Vampire Diaries cast bio is to be believed: he’s also “skilled in martial arts, ice hockey, kickboxing and horseback riding.” He’s also tight with co-stars like Wesley, with whom he bonded while filming the show in Atlanta.
He’s also known to make cameos on his younger brother’s YouTube videos. Like this one, below. (He pops up around the 4-minute mark).
