Producer David Yates gives us a look at Deathly Hallows part two: “a big opera, a great big epic, with huge battles”

david-yatesWe heard from producer David Yates a few weeks ago on what Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part one is going to look like: it was basically going to be a road trip movie, since the trio are camping out in the forest and running away from the baddies.

However, now we’ve got a look at what Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part two is going to look like. Here it is in his own words: “A big opera, a great big epic, with huge battles.” Good way to end the series, I should think.

Emma Watson also spoke about the Deathly Hallows movies, saying “The others have this structure. You know, we come into the Great Hall and there’s the opening talk. And that’s gone.” That is a HUGE part of the traditional HP movie experience, don’t you think?

Last, but not least, screenwriter Steven Kloves weighed in on the DH split, saying that “It should allow us to stretch a bit with the characters and give them the proper send-off.”

Excellent. While I’m not excited that the series is finally ending via film, I’m glad that they’re giving it the treatment it deserves.
