Amy Sherman-Palladino Not Giving Up On The Idea Of A Gilmore Girls Movie

You’re not in a dream, Gilmore Girls fans! In a chat with Mike Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly, Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino reveals that not only is she in touch with Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, she has not closed the door on a potential Gilmore Girls film in the future. She tells Ausiello:

“If I thought it was definitely not going to happen, I would say, ‘No, it’s definitely not going to happen,’” she adds. “I would do that for you, my friend. But I don’t want to say that. Because I think that the beauty of Gilmore, and the beauty of family relationship shows is, you never really run out of story. You’re going to battle your family until you’re all in the ground. Those things never resolve, doesn’t matter how much therapy you get. Ten years later, there’s still going to be [material] there to mine and to delve into.”

She also says she’s never watched the final season, which she was famously not involved with and that she wanted “different things” for Rory Gilmore. What different things do you think those are? And now that Amy’s said this, are you more hopeful about seeing the Gilmores on the big screen?

Boy, last night was a devastatingly sad one in our house. My girls, aged 9 and 12, sobbed after we finished the Gilmore Girls series. I watched it faithfully while it was on the air, and had forgotten how sad it is when a series you love ends. Please, please do a GG movie!! I’d actually like to see another GG series!! There is virtually nothing on TV that my husband (who also loves GG) and I can watch with our kids. The good news is that we don’t watch a lot of TV, but watching this series together over the last few months was really fun. Please! We desperately need a GG revivial of some sort.
