Gossip Girl fans were treated to a sneak peek of Leighton Meester’s debut video “Somebody to Love” during Monday night’s episode.
Meester, who plays Blair Waldorf, looks a lot different in the video compared to the girl we usually see her play on Gossip Girl. She’s more of a sex kitten in this video.
Universal Republica Records/Time-Act Music and Verizon Wireless unveiled the first sneak peek of “Somebody to Love” (featuring Robin Thicke) during Gossip Girl’s “The Grandfather Part II” episode.
The new single also will be featured during the Monday, Nov. 9 episode “They Shoot Humphreys, Don’t They?” with the full-length video (also showcasing Thicke) to be launched at CWTV.com immediately following Gossip Girl’s broadcast on network TV.
A special new edit of the ringtone for “Somebody To Love” will also be made available exclusively to Verizon Wireless customers beginning on November 9. Fans will be able to text LM to 8905 to receive the ringtone on their Verizon Wireless phone.
Leighton will also be the featured artist on the Gossip Girl music page of CWTV.com (CWTV.com/ggmusic). Gossip Girl social networking sites will be plugged into the buzz surrounding “Somebody to Love” featuring Tweets, Facebook updates, MySpace alerts and more.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Zoe Cassavetes, the clip was shot in New York City, embodying a noir-ish overtone that Leighton says “creates a different ambiance, which is what we were going for. It is fun, yet laid back and kind of very sexy, actually.”
The single “Somebody to Love” was released to radio in Mid-October.
Besides her music and Gossip Girl, Meester also will be seen on the big screen next year in Sony Screen Gems thriller The Roommate with Minka Kelly in October 2010, and the movie Date Night with Tina Fey and Steve Carell in April 2010.
