Maggie Smith WILL be back in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Thank goodness! Maggie Smith will be back to reprise her role as Minerva McGonagall in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows after a grueling fight with breast cancer and all the horrible treatment that goes along with it.

In an interview with the Telegraph, Dame Maggie reveals her struggles with this horrible disease, and how it’s made her a bit tentative to get back into the grind of acting. Here’s a snippet:

“I think it’s the age I was when it happened. It knocks you sideways,” she said. “It takes you longer to recover, you are not so resilient. I am fearful of the amount of energy one needs to be in a film or a play.”

However, she has confirmed that she will “stagger through” the final Harry Potter film. I don’t think we could have it without her, she is one of my favorite characters!

Power to Maggie. I would understand if she didn’t want to be in the seventh movie, since she would probobly need the rest. But power to her if she does the world a favor and plays the role one final time.

If Maggie Smith were unable to perform in the final Harry Potter installment they could have replaced her. Did they not replace Richard Harris as Dumbledore upon his death after the second Potter film?
    The show must go on.
